lanscan
Following the reboot lanscan shows no output. Is this command superceded or replaced?

Re: lanscan
lanscan does not display information about LAN devices that do not
have software support such as LAN interface cards that fail to bind
properly at boot-up time.
Do an ioscan -f an see if your NIC appears in the listing. Then try the lanscan with the -v option.

Re: lanscan
What are the permissions on the lanscan executeable? On my 11.0 system, it looks like this:
-r-xr-sr-x 1 root sys 40960 Mar 20 2003 /usr/sbin/lanscan

Re: lanscan
lanscan gets its info out of the kernel image on disk (/stand/vmunix) and in memory (/dev/kmem) If your booted off a different kernel then it can't find lan devices. Can you check which kernel you are booted off using:
/usr/sbin/kmpath
Just to confirm you are booted off the standard kernel.
Also, are you sure that lanscan is completing with no messages, and not, in fact dumping core?

Re: lanscan
Yes lanscan is completing properly, no core/dump files and /usr/sbin/kmpath returns /stand/vmunix. I also tried lanscan /stand/vmunix /dev/kmem. No output there either.
FYI. The core i/o board (0) is bound to npartition 0. attached to the board are three GigEther cards and three 2Gb FC cards. All Software is configd / claimed.

Re: lanscan
which lanscan
does return
/usr/sbin/lanscan
doesn't it?
and lanscan hasn't been alias'd (check with alias)...
Otherwise I think you might be looking at patches, as your lanscan does look very old (can you also post the output of "what /usr/sbin/lanscan" )

Re: lanscan
Thats a perfectly good version of lanscan - the version Mark mentions is also the version I have on my systems - however if I look in /var/adm/sw/save I can see the same version you have and it works fine:
# ll /var/adm/sw/save/PHNE_25388/LAN-RUN/usr/sbin/lanscan
-r-xr-sr-x 1 root sys 40960 Nov 14 2000 /var/adm/sw/save/PHNE_25388/LAN-RUN/usr/sbin/lanscan
# what /var/adm/sw/save/PHNE_25388/LAN-RUN/usr/sbin/lanscan
/var/adm/sw/save/PHNE_25388/LAN-RUN/usr/sbin/lanscan:

So thats a red herring...
I'm running out of ideas now - I guess patches may be the only way to go...
