largest file with largefiles set

What is the largest file you can put on a filesystem that allows for largefiles? Are you only limited by the available space on the filesystem?

Thanks

Re: largest file with largefiles set

Hi Tim,

As always it depends - on the OS level as well as the JFS level.
On 11i with JFS ver4 the max is 2 TB I believe.
There's a matrix out there somewhere, but I don't have it bookmarked.
Somebody will have it, I'm sure.

Re: largest file with largefiles set

Hi,

Take a look at this paper. It lists the maximum file sizes by release for HFS and JFS.

Re: largest file with largefiles set

I think so since you can have an 8 TB file system and one file in it. I'm sure this must come up in oracle with their fixed table sizes that utilize 99% of the file system.
