LDAP, CIFS and Active Directory setup

We're in the process of setting up LDAP for use in our domain and are having some configuration issues that I hope someone can shed so light on. We're running a Windows 2003 AD domain supporting Windows/HPUX and inux hosts. We and have added the Services for Unix (NIS portion) to the AD schema and that isit. On the Unix side configuring Samba 3.07?(HP's CIFS A.02.01.01) with security=domain, when we try to join samba to the domain with net ads join command we get a "failed to find KDC realm: and are unable to join the domain. We also get this from a Suse host as well.

On the Windows AD side is there additional config needed to get this to work> Do I need to setup kerbos on the windows side? Any insight on what needs do be setup to get this to work will help. Readying through SAMBA/LDAP docs docs hasn't helped my much.

Regards
Norm

Re: LDAP, CIFS and Active Directory setup

Kereobos 5 is a requirment on the Windows side for Windows 2003 Server.

A patch will let you use earlier verisions.

You need the latest Kerebos on the HP-UX side.

security=domain may not be right.

I thought I say a file earlier this week with security=ads

Don't rely on that, I can't find the file.

I think the key now is the right smb.conf setup.

Also, make sure on the domain there are machien accounts for every HP-UX server.
