LDAP-Server / Netscape Server

Hello,

I' am on search for a LDAP-Server.
Now my quesions. Is the Netscape Server
a LDAP-Server too ? Is it licensed from
HP with an HP-UX 10.2 Workstation Bundle ?
Where do I get the lastet version ?

Are there "better" products ?

The following may prove useful ?

LDAP is not included with the operating system, but is part of
a number of other products, most of which appear to be just mail
servers. If you are looking for Administrative capabilities,
consider something like NDS (Netscape Directory Server), or the
LDAP-UX Integration product (J4269AA).

The LDAP-UX Integration product for 10.20 is available on the August 1999
applications CDs (disk 4 of 4). Also Jun 2000.

To create your LDAP users database for the Netscape Enterprise 3.51
Server, the steps are:
1. Create an LDIF file containing users information. Note: Use a simple
script (a perl script) to convert an ASCII file to LDIF. Modify
it to handle a text file with entries in the format username:password.
2. Using the Netscape Administration Server, General Administration,
Users/Groups, import your LDIF file. This action will create the
LDAP database.

with HP-UX 10.20 Wokstation Bundle
or do I have to purchase a copy ?

Just spoken to some of out networks guys : LDAP is a purchaseable product, netscape is not and the NDS is a LDAP server in its own right.

If you are looking for just an LDAP server, the best site, and loads of info are on the University of Michigan web site, and links are on "www.openldap.org".
It is free, downloadable LDAP.
Not to knock the BIG BUCK GUYS, but my budgett does not allow me to purchase everything.
