LDAP setup help

Hello all,
I've been trying to set up LDAP on our UX box to a Windows 2000 AD. I have gotten the used to connect to the directory server in the /opt/ldapux/config/setup program, Now, it tells me that the directory schema needs to be extended.. As I am very new to this, I am not sure what this means, or what my next step is, it wants a DN of a user allowed to extend the directory, and that is not available to me.

Here is the step I get to before I run out of, shall we say, knowledge. :)

The LDAP-UX configuration profile schema does not exist in the directory
server at:
server name:address
Would you like to extend the schema in this directory server? [Yes]:

Any help or assistance from someone who knows what the heck this all means, would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks Much

Re: LDAP setup help

Thanks, I have seen those docs, when I asked the Windows folks, they said I should not have to change the AD to simply pull information, only to use/update it on the AD.

Also, does anyone know of the status of usage/support of LDAPS on UX ? I could not even connect to the AD on port 636, only on 389.
I have opened both ports in /etc/services..

thanks

Re: LDAP setup help

You need Certificate Services and High Encryption pack to be installed in the Active Directory Server to support LDAPS.

Reply for your original post:

You need to install Services For Unix to be installed on the Active Directory Server to support LDAP-UX Client Services schema.

It is well documented on HP LDAP-UX client services documents.
