LDAP support in SAM
Hi,
In SAM users and groups, I could not find any area which talks about adding users/groups on ldap server. It just provides NIS/NIS+/Trusted/Local system users and Groups. Does it provide support for LDAP? This is just a query that came to my mind and want to know more on this.
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated/rewarded with points.
Regards,
Jayesh

Re: LDAP support in SAM
Jayesh,
I don't know of any clear cut way to integrate this into SAM, however you may wish to look at the following for a possibility:
1. http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J4269-90013/J4269-90013.html
2. Document #S3100004721 describes the ability to create templates:
PROBLEM:
I am running SAM (System Administration Manager) and I want to create templates for add users to use with the SAM useradd subsystem. These variables would be password aging, home, start up shell, etc.
How do I create SAM (System Administration Manager) useradd subsystem templates?
RESOLUTION:
For customized variables under the SAM(1M) useradd subsystem, follow these steps in creating a SAM template:
1. Start SAM. See SAM(1M).
2. Select Accounts for Users and Groups from the main SAM menu.
3. Select Users from the sub-menu.
4. Under Users & Groups sub-menu system:
Actions -> User templates -> create
5. Under the User Template window, make all necessary system-wide changes. This change will affect the useradd SAM subsystem.
NOTE: It is necessary to select the new template each time a user is added to the system:
Actions -> User templates -> select
I couldn't find an updated version of the tech document listed above, so I had to cut it out of a forum post (thanks to JRF). I would open up a call with HP to see if they have anything in the works or if others have requested this functionality in the past.
Hope that helps.
-Mike
