LDAPUX on HP-UX 10.20

I have a problem with getting the LDAPUx NIS/LDAP gateway working on 10.20
I have the similar package working well on Solaris, so I know the functionality issues behind getting it working with LDAP.
However my problem is this. "ypcat passwd" returns the passwd entry from the LDAP DS and "ypcat group" returns the the group entries. So this far I know it is able to talk to the LDAP server. Problem comes when using telnet,rloin or any other. I cannot find the apparent entry. I suspect my problem lay somewhere with NIS(yp) and the configuration.
Anybody had this before. Help!!
