legato error and we do not have legato

Our syslog in filling up with a message like, "Legato Storage Manager media: (critical) backup to pool 'Default' waiting for 1 writable backup tape(s). We have never had nor used Legato. Not sure where to start to figure this out.

Re: legato error and we do not have legato

Hello,

did you install or update Oracle recently. LSM integration was included as a default on some CDs.

Hope this helps

Re: legato error and we do not have legato

You have probably installed Oracle recently, which, I believe, also installs a piece of Legato.

To stop these messages you can do:

# /sbin/init.d/networker stop

Next, check and see if there is a /etc/rc.config.d/networker or /etc/rc.config.d/nsr file and see if there is a variable you can change from a 1 to a 0 so that Legato will not start next time you reboot the machine.

You can also try bringing up swremove and see if there is a Legato product listed. If so, you can probably safely remove it.

Re: legato error and we do not have legato

What OS are you running? 11.11?
have you recently installed Oracle perhaps?

DO a swlist -l product and see if there is something like LSM or Legato listed, and if so swremove it.
You could also try running nsr_shutdown to see if the processes stop and the messages cease.

Re: legato error and we do not have legato

Hi Shawn,

If you have installed oracle recently, legato might have got installed with it. Legato is now coming coming as an added product with 8i. do a "swlist" and find out if you have legato installed on your system.

Hope this helps.

Re: legato error and we do not have legato

If you're using solaris, you must remove the file /etc/rc2.d/S99networker in order to keep the networker from starting...

Re: legato error and we do not have legato

There's no configure file in /etc/rc.config.d like other rc scripts, you can search for 'Sxxxnetworker' links in /sbin/rc2.d, and just remove it.
