Legato Networker Backup hang

Hi...

I got a Legato Networker 5.5.2 SUN Solaris 2.6
Server.

and.. I got a HP-UX 11.0 (Nclass) Networker client.

I use Adic Scalar100 DLT8000 Tape Library.

But when we starting backup, HP system is always hang. (when using Tape Library)

but .. if i using Hard-disk for Backup device,
I work good. (never hang)
please help me.. ASAP

Do you have any messages in the logfiles? Normally under /nsr/logs/messages. Would be interesting if there are any messages on the server and client side.

If you use a disk as a backupdevice ist the disk on the server or on the client?

Is the communication between server and client ok? (ping, nslookup ...)

yes.. there are no error messages!!

and.. ping, nslookup .. ok!!

i think the problem is nsrmmd..
not network problem..

Hmm ... this seems to be a tricky problem. The nsrmmd knows the -D and -v options for debugging and verbosemode. Could you please activate them to see what they tell us.

Does the backup share the same lan connection
with other activity to the box?
If so, try backing up a couple of small
files only, to see if it is Lan traffic.

If the problem is Legato, is your client
definition set up correctly? Pools, permissions, server network, etc. etc.

What is the error message that legato is sending you in e-mail when it can't back up the server. It might be as simple as legato making the request and the HP doesn't know to get back to legato. In which case you can add an entry in you /etc/hosts file
