Legato Problem .

Hello ,

I have Networker 6.13 client on L2000, os=11i .
On the last backup i get this error :
kuku:/dev has been inactive for 45 minutes since Sat Dec 27 21:20:48 2003.
* kuku:/dev is being abandoned by nsrexec.

Bye ,
Eran .

Re: Legato Problem .

Hi Eran,

Here is the problem :
Error: 'nsrexec: Attempting a kill on remote save'
Error: '(client):(save set) has been inactive for 30 minutes'
Error: '(client):(save set) is being abandoned by nsrexec'
Error: '(client)/(save set) aborted due to inactivity'

Saves hang

Set inactivity timeout to 0 to disable Inactivity Timeout, once the backup completes, you can later increase the inactivity timeout value to a level that is acceptable by your configuration.

Re: Legato Problem .

Hi Robert ,
Do you mean the timeout value in :
/nsr/res/GROUP .

Re: Legato Problem .

I think they mean the inactivity timeout in

# nwadmin

"Customize" --> select "groups" --> view details --> Inactivity timeout.

Kind Regards,

Re: Legato Problem .

Eran,

Make sure /dev is not the only filesystem with problems on kuku. Perhaps the problem is not with Networker, but with your network, for instance. If the link between kuku and your backup server had a hickup, a message like this can be generated.

Also, check if a retry has been attempted and if that failed too. Normally networker runs a retry for every failed backup, and only if that fails too, your filesystem is not written to backup.

Since /dev is normally small to backup, you coould try an extra backup of it. Create an extra client definition of kuku with only /dev in its savesets, put it in a seperate group and run that group with debugging on to make sure it backups fine.

/nsr/res/GROUP is only used when using savepnpc (pre- and post-commands). I don't think it has anything to do with this problem.
Every problem has at least one solution. Only some solutions are harder to find.
