Re: leveraging make recovery tape
Hi,
make_tape_recovery is the new version of make_recovery and is used only for backing up root VG data so that in some circumstances if your root disks corrupt you can revert back in minimal time. The application backup should be taken seperately.

Re: leveraging make recovery tape
Vaibhav,
use make_tape_recovery for the system backup vg00 etc.
But with that kind of storage I would stongly recommend going to some other solution like netbackup etc. and a tape infrastructure that can handle multiple tapes with autochanger etc.
thanks

Re: leveraging make recovery tape
Hi Vaibhav ,
make_ape_recovery is used to backup your system , i.e OS & root vg , and can be used in case of system is not bootable or other related problems.
You can use to take a ignite backup using:
#/opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -v -I -x inc_entire=vg00 -a /dev/rmt/0mn
For backing up large volume of data / oracle DB you can use , DP or NetBackup or other backup software.
Cheers,
Raj.
