libpam_ntlm.1 errors when trying to FTP
The errors in the syslog show:
ftpd: open_module: stat(/usr/lib/security/libpam_ntlm.1) failed: No such file or directory
ftpd: load_module: can not open module /usr/lib/security/libpam_ntlm.1
ftpd: load_module: pam_sm_acct_mgmt() missing "username"
I checked and see that /usr/lib/security/libpam_ntlm.1 is not present, and this may be the problem. But I used to be able to ftp before, but am not sure if this file was there prior to the problem. But from my readings on this issue, it appears ntlm.1 file needs to be in there for connections from NT boxes?
On one of the other servers, the /libpam_ntlm.1 file is linked to the /opt/cifsclient/pam/lib/libpam_ntlm.1 file.
However, my server does not have the /opt/cifsclient directory.
Back to my original issue of "No such file or directory", should I create this missing file? Would this be the cause of my problem even though I can login via ftp?
Thanks.

Re: libpam_ntlm.1 errors when trying to FTP
You asked if this file got made recently? No, it did not get made recently.
But this morning I was working on the server, trying to configure Tantia software (harbor file transfer client v4.2 etc). I downloaded the file to my pc, and was not able to ftp the file to my HP-UX server. And I could not download the file directly to my HP server.
I asked a co-worker to FTP the file to my server, in the /tmp directory. She was successful...but not me.
When I try FTPing from my Microsoft CMD line, I wait a few minutes and get this error msg:
425: Can't build data connection: Connection timed out.
The libpam_ntlm.1 may or may not be directoy related to my FTP. But when you get this 425 error msg, I thought it may be my password so I changed it and let it populate through the network. Then tried again, same problem! How can another user be able to FTP to my server, and not me???
Thanks.
