library not seem under hpux

Hi,

I have a DLT library (SureStore Tape Autoloader 1/9 series) that is attached to a hpux server (B.11.00 9000/800/L3000-5x) through a narrow/wide scsi cable. When you run an ioscan -f you can see the scsi connection but no library. We have all the drivers required on the OS but still no library.

Ioscan output:
ext_bus 0 0/0/1/0 c720 CLAIMED INTERFACE SCSI C896 Ultra Wide Differential
target 0 0/0/1/0.7 tgt CLAIMED DEVICE
ctl 0 0/0/1/0.7.0 sctl CLAIMED DEVICE Initiator

Does anyone know how to get the library seen on the OS?

Thanks,
MMC

Re: library not seem under hpux

Hi,

if I remember right, there were different models of this box - a HVD and a LVD version.

Of course you cannot connect a HVD model to a LVD HBA and vice versa.

Have a look at the backside - on the library controller card and on the drive you should see a label: HVD or LVD.

For your HBA it must be LVD.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: library not seem under hpux

Hi - thanks for the reply.

The library is HVD so that is why it doesn't work.
Do you know of any servers that would work that HVD library?

Thanks,

Re: library not seem under hpux

Your server can work with the library, but you need a HVD HBA!

One example is the A4800A, AFAIR:
