Licenses check

Hi,
Is there any way to check how many licenses have been installed by means of any command say for Serviceguard A.11.17? Normally we will purchase license per core basis. I hope we need to buy additional licenses if we install additional cores.
Thanks,
Srini

Re: Licenses check

For online JFS or any VxVM products , you can use vxlicense utility. From root command line type vxlicense -p. It should show you some thing like below,
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Feature name: HP_OnlineJFS [50]
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Number of licenses: 1 (non-floating)
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Expiration date: Sun Jun 24 04:00:00 2007 (190.9 days ago)
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Release Level: 22
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Machine Class: All
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Site ID: 0

Re: Licenses check

Srini,

There is no "technical" implementation of HP-UX product licensing - its done on a trust basis - HP trust you to purchase licenses for the systems you run the products on - you will need a license/codeword to get the product off a DVD or download in the first place, but once you have it you are trusted not to install it on systems you aren't licensed for.

Of course HP reserve the right to carry out license audits on your HPUX estate and charge you if you are using more licenses than you can prove you paid for.

Check Veritas Licenses - for FileSystem, Volume Manager AND Cluster

# vxlicense -p

If any licenses are not valid or expired -- get them FIXED before continuing! All licenses should say "No expiration". If ANY license has an actual expiration date, the test failed. Permenant licenses do NOT have an expiration date.

Re: Licenses check

I would say that it's time to open a support call if the license reporting commands are giving erroneous results. All of mine are ok.
