Lifetime of system-generated temporary password

HPUX 11.0 trusted system. Lifetime of system-assigned temporary password seems to differ from normal password lifetime, but I can't find documentation. Anyone know about this?

Joe,
if the user-password is system-assigned, the password lifetime would depend on whether the password change time was updated.
