 have created two LUNs of 6 TB each and now require additional space for VM migration.

The diferences are as follows-
      a. Extending procedure will be very easy than creating new LUN.
      b. Extending the LUN and using for migration may have less performance than the new LUN.
      c. New LUN creation may be good for a scalability and LUN expansions in future.
Analyse the pros and cons and your current storage, speed, connectivity and other factors, you can opt either migration or new LUN creation.
