limit on the # of logical interfaces for an APA interface?

Hi,

I have APA configured in lan monitor mode for two fast ethernet interfaces. I
have lan900 - lan900:9 configured w/ logical IP addresses. When I try to add
the 11th logical interface it sets lan900:1 to the IP address I was trying to
assign to lan900:11. Is there a limit for logical IP addresses for an APA
interface 10?

Frank

Hi Frank,

Not positive, but I do believe 10 is the limit for APA & for the reason you've discovered. Standard virtual IPs are not limited in this fashion - just those controlled by APA.
If you just need more addresses, can you do this with hostname aliases? Can you add an alias in DNS to point to one of the existing IPs?

Hi Frank,

You should be able to assign more than 10 aliased IP's to the APA interface. The same rules that apply to a non-APA interface should apply here. This sounds like a bug, what you should check is your version of APA and load the latest patches.

For 11.11 APA patch is PHNE_28778
For 11.0 APA Patch is PHNE_28777

Nevermind. I was going on a statement from a co-worker...I tried it just now myself and I could add the 11th. The output of netstat -in just truncates the lan900:10 to lan900:1 but both ip are up a pinging.
