Limitation on length of here documents

Hello,
I have encountered a situation which seems to suggest there may be a limit to the size of here documents. Can anyone tell me what that limit is?

I don't know of a practical limit other than the ability of the shell to add more RAM while runs the script. I've had a 200 line here document (part of an email messge generator) that had no problems.

Have you noticed a limit to the length of here document names? I refer to the identifier that follows the <<- or <<.

FWIW - This is not a limitation on the length of anything. There was a trailing space on the closing tag. Once removed, all was well.
