Linkloop
Has anyone run linkloop from a any class HPUX system to a laptop with a pcmcia nic. I found that I got a get_msg2 failure on three separate laptops with differnet nics. The HPUX systems completed linkloop to any other MAC on the segment . The laptops had good conectivity to the HPUX at layer 3 . I dropped an analyzer on the segment and saw linkloop source send LLC frame TEST PULSE at 1514 mtu. Laptops with pcmcia nics responded with TEST FINAL at 64 mtu. All other MAC's tested the mtu was the same at 1514. OS version tested 10.20 and 11.

Re: Linkloop
This is likely a config issue in the laptop's opsystem. There are some registry tweaks that can adjust MTU and receive window, etc. There's good information about Windows tweaks at dslreports.com. Look in the tweaks section about MTU being lowered (typically for modem conections but affects LAN too) and receive window sizes.

Re: Linkloop
linkloop requires that the remote be able/willing to respond to XID or TEST frames (I can never remember which). not all "foreign" (non-HP-UX) systems have card/driver combinations that will respond to those frames. You might take a snapshot of a working linkloop exchange and send it to the card/driver vendors where it does not work, and suggest to them that supporint such functionality would be a very good thing.
