lo0 interface: chk_dup_ipaddr error

Hi all,
I have a system C3650 with HP11i.
During the boot procedure I got the error message below:
ERROR: lo0 interface: chk_dup_ipaddr error: No such file or directory
ifconfig:
"/sbin/rc2.d/S008net.init start" FAILED
Someone have any idea to fix it?
Thamk you in advance,
Gian Filippo

Re: lo0 interface: chk_dup_ipaddr error

Gian,

I found a document that described this error and pointed to a problem with ifconfig that was fixed by an ARPA cumulative patch.

The current 11i ARPA cumulative patch is PHNE_29887.

As the dependencies get a little ugly, it would probably be best to use the ITRC to download this patch and its dependencies into a depot and install them. This patch has a conservative rating and no warnings. It does require a reboot.

Best Regards,

Dave

Re: lo0 interface: chk_dup_ipaddr error

Hi Dave,
I checked my system (with the command swlist -l patch | grep PHNE_29887)and the patch that you suggested me is already installed.
Any other suggestion???

Thank you,
Gian Filippo

Re: lo0 interface: chk_dup_ipaddr error

Gian,

I don't have an immediate suggestion, but maybe you could tell me a little more about the problem...

1- Had this been working and just stopped, or is it a new setup?

2- Had you made any changes to the hardware or software config immediately before seeing this problem?

3- Do you have multiple LAN interfaces on this system, and do you run Auto Port Aggregation?

Maybe you could attach a copy of /etc/rc.config.d/netconf -- it might be helpful.

One more thing...if you change runlevel to 1 then back to 3, does the network come up OK?

Best Regards,

Dave
