Re: Loaded 0 passwords, exiting... whle running john
As it's trusted you'll need to get the passwords from the individual tcb files. This extra complication is one of the security benefits of trusted systems!

Darren.

Re: Loaded 0 passwords, exiting... whle running john
You can also off the trusted system and this
will return the passwd file to the original mode that john will understand it.
You can off/on trusted system from SAM.

Re: Loaded 0 passwords, exiting... whle running john
cd /usr/lbin
tsconvert -r
cp /etc/passwd /etc/passwd.bak
tsconvert
john /etc/passwd.bak
And you are done. (You could even script this, add it to cron and go.)
Hope it helps
John

Re: Loaded 0 passwords, exiting... whle running john
Untrusting and retrusting the system will make it easier for you to get to the passwords for your cracker program, but consider that you will then lose the last successful/unsuccessful login and password change data, along with any custom security policies that exist for both the individual users and the system default policies.

Darren.

Re: Loaded 0 passwords, exiting... whle running john
Could you pl post the john dump as an attachement to the forum or pl tell me where can I get it. I also want to try it on one of our server.
What does it actually do....is it removes any password entries.
