log events for SX25
Hi,
Is there any way to log events about SX25L2 and SX25L3 ?
I tried "nettl -l w e -e SX25L2 SX25L3" without any effect in "nettl -status all" (HPUX 11.00)
Thanks for answers

Re: log events for SX25
Shalom Philippe,
http://docs.hp.com/en/B9106-90008/nettl.1M.html
http://devrsrc1.external.hp.com/STK/cgi-bin/man2html?manpage=/usr/share/man/man1m.Z/nettl.1m&PRINT=YES
http://nixdoc.net/man-pages/HP-UX/man1/nettl.1m.html
The links indicate that nettl is the tool to use.
So, I'd check and see if nettl and the stm tools, part of Online Diagnostics are up to date.
I recommend checking the patch database on nettl:
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/mainPage.do
and http://software.hp.com on the Online Diagnostics.
Staying current is very important to good results.

Re: log events for SX25
Phillippe,
You may try also to use strace as per the doc:
http://docs.hp.com/en/J2793-90046/ch07s04.html
The strace command collects logging event messages from X.25 level 3 and X.25 level 2 STREAMS modules and writes them to standard output.
Syntax: strace mod sub pri,
where mod is the module (200 for X25 L3, 201 for X25 L2)
sub is the network id (equal to 0x30 + card #), for instance 0x30 for X25_0 (see dc for multi port)
pri is for priority levels. See details in the doc above again.
Hope this helps,
Marie-Noelle

Re: log events for SX25
I believe that those two entities are only used for nettl tracing, the function that records the actual traffic passing into and out of a link. Even that varies somewhat depending on which X.25 product you use.
Both work for the 1, 2, and 4 port "PSI" cards.
The x25stat utility is the most useful for seeing the link status with these cards. The programming manual also has sample code that can detect a "link down" condition and retry.
Only SX25L3 works for "ACC" cards, which usually have 8 ports.
This product has a pretty good loggin function that records to "*.tlog" files in /var/opt/acc/log directory.
Hope this helps.
