In your /etc/hosts file you have the short name
You can include the long name as well.
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx sysname.yourdomain.com sysname

Or you could include the FQDN in the Dj directive of sendmail.
Once the modification has been made, stop/restart sendmail.

In the sendmai.cf file

Change the line:
#Dj$w.Foo.COM
to
Dj$w.yourdomain.com



or .org .gov etc....
