Logical Drives not available after replacing HP 4si RAID Adapter
We recently had some issues with the HP 5SI RAID adapter connecting to our HP DS2100 Disk array, which eventually was suspending the HP-UX boot process.
The error logs within the GSP logs were pointing that the 4si card was faulty, so we had replaced that with another one. This adpater was been used before by another HP_UX machine
We have LIVE data within our DS2100 disk array, and cannot afford to lose any DATA, Please can some one suggest how to restore the config since HP Internal RAID Mgr shows there is no exisiting configuration.
regards,
AJi

Re: Logical Drives not available after replacing HP 4si RAID Adapter
If the old hardware is still available, try and do a vgexport with the -p -m (map file) mode. This will get you a map file you can use to vgimport the data back into the system.
This of course assumes that the disk layout did not change and the data on the DS2100 remains untouched.
You might also be able to get a raw backup of the disks and then simply reconfigure and vgimport or set up the disk anew with lvm.
The best supported course is vgexport/vgimport.
Always do a vgexport in preview and map file mode when you suspect disk work is going to be required. It makes recovery much easier.

Re: Logical Drives not available after replacing HP 4si RAID Adapter
You have to clear the configuration stored in the "new" controller first (without connecting the disks, of course!), because the config information stored in the controller is different from the config on the disks.
Use this link:
http://docs.hp.com/en/J6173-90007/ch03s07.html
Make sure to read and follow *all* steps!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Logical Drives not available after replacing HP 4si RAID Adapter
Is there a was to regain our old configuration onto the HP 4SI RAID adapter and gain access to our exisiting data on the disks.
Thanks and regards,
