Logical Volumes Numbers

Logical Volumes Numbers

Hi,

I have a simple question. Is there any way how to determine logical volumes numbers in volume group 00 during the install process of HP-UX 11i (11.11). Logical volume numbers of default file systems (/opt, /tmp...) seem to me quite random, but I'd like to have always the same number, for example /opt has to be /dev/vg00/lvol6, /tmp /dev/vg00/lvol4...

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Logical Volumes Numbers

Why don't you just have 2 Volumes

/
/stand

/stand is always /dev/vg00/lvol1
/ whould then be /dev/vg00/lvol2

Re: Logical Volumes Numbers

Hope there is a way to see these logical volume numbers when doing installation with cold-installation through Advanced options and file system changes.

/tmp is /dev/vg00/lvol4
/opt is /dev/vg00/lvol7 (in my system)

Hope you can change that in advanced tab.

Re: Logical Volumes Numbers

Hello,

You can select Advanced Installation mode to change it.

Re: Logical Volumes Numbers

You have to remove any of the logical volume which is assigned to /dev/vg00/lvol4. And change mount point to /tmp. Again create a new one and assign to removed logical volume.

You can try or paste the available things on that screen.

Re: Logical Volumes Numbers

Here at our site there is a customer pre-speficified filesystem layout in use, so unless I deselect it, every system will have the same chosen lvol order.

but this approach takes an ignite server and even then I don't know how they actually did it :)
yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.
