Login Troubles

I have a 2 part question.

When my users open an xsession they are greeted by the CDE login in lieu of the failsafe and they have to click failsafe under options. I want to end this and take them right to the failsafe login.

and...

After they login the first window opened is a DT Term and I want a HPTerm window to open instead.

Any thoughts? Thanks!!!

Re: Login Troubles

I'll answer the 2nd question first:

I think the easiest thing would be to close the dtterm, open an hpterm and then save their session as the home session, then make sure CDE is set up to always return to the home session.

Now for the 1st question:

Why do you want them to go to the Failsafe session instead of the normal CDE session? I don't understand.

Re: Login Troubles

Failsafe option is prompted automatically only when the
system is not able to use
regular login option. This
happens when there are network
problems. At that time, failsafe option is used.
Otherwise, you would need to
select it from the login options.

Regarding dtterm, i think
that is the default which
comes with CDE. Whether with
the (wonderful)VUE , we had
hpterm by default. There may
be a way to change the default
terminal option, but i am not
sure.

Re: Login Troubles

Our software doesn't work in CDE. We have a bunch of special scripts that run in our hpterms during a failsafe session.

Re: Login Troubles

Clifford,
The TERM environmental variable can be set in either the .dtprofile or the Xsession file.

As far as setting the session to failsafe, I have never done that, if someone just wants a terminal window I will give them a terminal window software program like Tera Term or something like that.

Good Luck
