Logon via openssh by Reflection

Hi,
my logon via openssh (no password) by Reflection for HP version 12.0.7 to Hp-UX 11i runs fine but takes a lot of time (2/3 minutes) to logon.
I have 2 questions:
1. Is there a way to speed up the logon?
2. I noted that the file .kshrc is not executed (shell=/usr/bin/ksh in /etc/passwd), why? Is there another file?

TIA,
Art

Re: Logon via openssh by Reflection

Is the ssh server configured to use DNS for reverse map lookups? If so, can you resolve your client's hostname name from the server? DNS timeout "might" explain the 2 mins to login...

What is "UseDNS" ssd_config directive set to?

Also check the syslog for sshd messages.

Re: Logon via openssh by Reflection

Shalom,

Try logon by numeric IP address.

If its much faster, your DNS resolution is slow. If its a windows DNS server, set up host resolution in /etc/hosts and set /etc/nsswitch.conf to check there first.

If there is no speed difference using numeric IP then its either application, see Reflections or local networking.

Use lanadmin to check speeds.

Is a regular ssh login that slow?

Re: Logon via openssh by Reflection

regarding #2:

x is going to run .dtprofile. There is a line at the bottom that, if set to true, will cause .profile to be sourced. you can then start ksh from there

Re: Logon via openssh by Reflection

Hi,
I've no root capability, so I cannot check syslog file. I'll try using IP, about #2: I'm using Reflection NOT ReflectionX. I don't have a X terminal.

Re: Logon via openssh by Reflection

Hi Denver,
no UseDNS" ssd_config directive set.

Hi SEP,
it's the same using IP, trying by Putty is quicker that Reflection. At this point I'm quite sure that's a Reflection setup.

and whats about my second question?

TIA,
Art
