I'm from an Administation background.

Just need some basic info about what Oracle does and how it works.

Oracle RDBMS is a relational database management product, and has other integral parts, such as SQL, PL/SQL, the Oracle Call Interface (OCI), SQL*Loader, Import/Export utilities, precompilers and so on. Apart from Oracle database engine, there are various suites of oracle applications (Eg:- Financials, CRM, ERP???).

On HP-UX 11.x Oracle has certified for the following products
Oracle 8i
Release 2 ---- 8.1.6, 8.1.6 (64 bit)
Release 3 ---- 8.1.7, 8.1.7 (64 bit)
Oracle 9i
Release 1 ---- 9.0.1 (64 bit)
Release 2 ---- 9.2.0 (64 bit).
