Lotus Domino server Hanging problem on HP-UX 11.00
Hi all,
we are facing following problem under HP-UX,
-- O.S is HP-UX 11.00 with DEC'2000
general/critical patch installed
-- Hardware is HP9000 - A class server with 1GB RAM
-- Application is Lotus Domino 5 mail server.
-- Problem: The Server works fine when it started. but after 7-8 days, the lotus application gets hung. rebootof server or application termination(kill) is necessary to make the system functioning again.
-- Observation:When m/s starts, the lotus application (server, http, agent processes) consume certain amount of memory. but it kepps on growing over a period of time and after 7-8 days, free memory becomes less than 3MB. At that time m/c stops responding to lotus users. seems to be memory leakage problem.
any solution ??

That could be hardware related. Have you put a call into the Response Center? You might have a bad memory simm.

Re: Lotus Domino server Hanging problem on HP-UX 11.00
You certainly seem to have a memory leak with Lotus. Talk to IBM to get try to get this resolved.
We have the same problem here, so we shutdown Notes every night for a backup, even then sometimes it doesnt shutdown properly and we have to kill it to restart. Doesnt seem like a particularly friendly application to me.
To stop your server hanging add more swapspace, this will make your server run really slow when its used, but will stop the hanging. Once this additional swap is used you should reboot or restart Notes to stop the memory leak/abuse.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...
