lp -d printer name -n 2 /etc/hosts --fail to print 2 copy

lp -d printer name -n 2 /etc/hosts --fail to print 2 copy

Hi Guys ,
I have used the command lp -d(printer name) -n 2 /etc/hosts to have a 2 copy of /etc/hosts.

But I issue the command the command ,only print out one copy .

Any step or command I did wrong.

Please advice

Hi,

from 'man lp' - you should have no blank between your options and the argument, so try '-n2'.

Is your printer connected to a printer server, ie, a windows box? A remote printer is extremely limited and can not handle the copy count. You'll have to repeat the lp command for remote printers. That's one of the many reasons never to use remote printers but connect the printers to the network using a smart LAN card (HP JetDirect). Note that non-HP LAN cards for printers look like remote printers and have all the limitations of remote printer.
