lp sending root mail

lp is sending root mail of the following nature...
<
from: queue045
Message from queue: queue045 [ Tue Jan 30 14:12:47 2001 ] ...
Printer intervention required: n.n.n.n
Printer condition: Load Paper
>

It may be the Lexmark/MarkVision software queue manager but we can't turn it off using their config.
Does anyone have a suggestion how to disable lp's mail or stop it at the source.
Thanks in advance.

Re: lp sending root mail

cannot use lp parms because it is the QUEUE telling lp to send root mail when paper tray is empty. toner low, etc.

Re: lp sending root mail

I'm having the same question.
Right now root wones all of out print job due to the application. All jobs that are canceled send mail to root.
Root is aliased and .forwarded
If we cancel say 50 print jobs it sends 200 emails.
I filter the mail in Lotus notes but want to stop it completely.

Did you ever get a good answer?
Desaster recovery? Right !
