lp spool request to windows lpd print server slow as a turtle

We are handing off a print request from a Unix 11.0 lp spooler to a Windows LPD
print server. This print request takes an unacceptable amount of time, as if
the hand off is in small byte increments. The job also does not clear from the
lp spooler until the Windows spooler has completed the entire print request.
Both systems should be capable of better. Is there a way to increase the
transfer of this data from the Unix side? Thanks, Terri Christensen.

We are using SimulatePassThrough on Windows. Thanks, Terri.

Re: lp spool request to windows lpd print server slow as a turtle

Mark-
I have a remote printer using rlp talking with LPD print services on Windows. From what I've learned further, my network folks would like to know if I can increase the packet size handed off from the lp spooler to Windows (they feel Unix is handing the request in too small of packets which in turn is slowing the print request down). Do you think there may be any options to do this? Thanks, Terri.
