lpstat: "lp" not a request id or a destination
When trying to print on an existing remote printer (works from other sites) from a HP-UX 11i machine, I get the above answere - what can be wrong.
PS I've had a look at DocId: UPRTKBRC00008900, which explains exactly how I see it, but the directory /var/opt/pd/pdcclientd does not exist.
The exact command I,m trying with is: echo Test | lp -dcphvfw01.net.sas.dk:cphprt0240.

This bug can give you errors while doing remote prints.

Re: lpstat: "lp" not a request id or a destination
I don't want to add the remote printer physical, I just want to print directly to it!

Re: lpstat: "lp" not a request id or a destination
I don't think you can print to that printer using the method you are trying. The way that the lp machinery knows about the remote printer is by setting up that printer as a remote printer on the HP box. You might be able to redirect something to a particular port on the printer, but why bother with all that when 'lp' takes care of all that for you?
It's pretty simple to setup the remote printer. Even just for a temporary job it only takes a minute or two to get going, and you can delete it when you are done if you don't want it permanently.

No - I did not add any of these patches: PHCO_23876 PHCO_25902, they are not for 11i (11.11).

Re: lpstat: "lp" not a request id or a destination
I know how to set up a remote printer locally, but why should I do that, when I have an automated distribution of a script, that will alway point to our "default" printer, which can change form time to time?
