lsof

Can someone tell me where I can find a compiled version of 'lsof' for a 64 bit HP UX 11.0 system. The web site hpux.cs.utah.edu does not have this binary.

Thank you for your help.

Re: lsof

Stefan,

That version is for 32 bit only. I think that the answer is that you will have to either compile it yourself or wait until it gets ported to 64bit.

Re: lsof

the 32bit version works fine, why would you even need a 64bit version ?

Re: lsof

Well the porting centre says that it will only run on 32 bit HP-UX. Quote:-

Note that the binary releases of lsof on this archive will ONLY run on OS release they were compiled on and will run on 32-bit HP-UX only. If you have any other release of HP-UX, you must build lsof yourself from the source code.

Re: lsof

Because the hp-ux kernel will be compiled 64bit and the lsof reads kernel memory directly, it does need to know if the kernel is 32/64 bit or not. However, should none of the structures used have elements of a different size to the 32 bit ones, then it will work fine.

It is safer to compile it on 64bit however.

Re: lsof

Ive been using the 32bit version on 11 for a long time now, never ever had a problem or something not work. Anyone know of something that will only work on the 64bit version???

Re: lsof

The attachment still did not get posted, is there a URL? I too really need a 64 bit version of lsof, or the source. The one I got has coding errors and will not compile with cc.

Re: lsof

You can find pre-compiled 32 and 64 bit versions of lsof for just about any HP-UX platform here:

ftp://coast.cs.purdue.edu/pub/tools/unix/sysutils/lsof

You can also find just about any other Unix tool you could possibly want on this site.
Remember, wherever you go, there you are...
