Re: LUN's presented from SAN
Not an HP limit to my knowledge. We have an EMC SAN where I can see 24 different disk for my luns.
What kind of SAN are you working on? Any propriatary software involved (ie PowerPath)?
insf -e somtimes works other times I have had to reboot my server to see all my disks.

Another possibility (instead of rebooting) is resetting your HBA's.

Re: LUN's presented from SAN
HP has a Storage that is actually Hitachi. If you know what the CU:Ldev is, you can find your disk. Example our lun 01 is CU:Ldev 0:01, lun 0A is 0:1F. You will see this on your Lun Management window.
Once you have this information you can look to see if your Storage is being detected by your UNIX system.
In the HP XP512 world the command would be;
# xpinfo -i | grep 0:01 (this is to look for lun 01 above).
I don't know what the command is for Hitachi. This will also tell you what disk is associated w/ your storage.
Another thing to make sure is that your zoning is set up properly. This is something that I was always told by my Hitachi rep. He would always say that 9 times out of 10 it is a zoning issue.
Hope that this helps,
Andy

Re: LUN's presented from SAN
I think you must have tried ioscan and insf -e before posting this query. I think there is a cross check required in the SAN configuration side. Pls check whether the new luns are presented to the proper hosts/HBAs.
If you are able to see 8 new luns from the same SAN I dont think that a patch problem is the issue.Pls check SAN config again.

Syam
