Re: LV's are not synced properly
I suspect that c8t2d0 is no longer available and gone bad.. You have to get it replaced .. Since pvdisplay is also not able to query the disk and all the LVs are showing as stale.
Could you please check the ioscan -fnCdisk o/p and check the status of c8t2d0, is it NO_HW ?
Do check /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log and /var/opt/resmon/log/event.log for any lbolt/disk failures.....
Another sceanrio could be that this disk was replaced and vgcfgrestore was not done, if this is the case and you have a valid vgcfgbackup then go ahead and restore the vg configuration.
Revert back if this doesnot resolve the issue...

Re: LV's are not synced properly
Could you please check the output of the
diskinfo /dev/dsk/c8t2d0
pvdisplay /dev/dsk/c8t2d0
There is a possibility that some one has run pvcreate accidently on this disk and its LVM header information is lost. That is the reason LVM is not able to find the VG information and unalbe to query.
If you have a valid vgcfgbackup under /etc/lvmconf then can try restoring it on this disk using the following
vgcfgrestore -n vg01 /dev/rdsk/c8t2d0
Since this is PVG strict and distributed then last way out would be to backup the data and recreate the VG, else it may be very time consuming to recreate the old setup.

Re: LV's are not synced properly
as you said, try to reduce it from the vg by
#vgreduce -l vg_name pv_path
I used to see these messages when using EMC powerpath or other multipathing utilities, that might changes volumes ctd's.

Re: LV's are not synced properly
1.Try 'diskinfo' command. If the size shows zero then the disk is malfunctioning..
2.U can try 'dd' command also
For example, the following shows a successful read of the first 64 megabytes of the disk:
# dd if=/dev/rdsk/c0t5d0 of=/dev/null bs=1024k count=64
64+0 records in
64+0 records out
The following shows an unsuccessful read of the whole disk:
# dd if=/dev/rdsk/c1t3d0 of=/dev/null bs=1024k
dd read error: I/O error
0+0 records in 0+0 records out
Thanx & regards;
Arun

Re: LV's are not synced properly
Pls confirm ,
1.diskinfo
2.dd
3.ioscan ( Shoul show S/w State as Claimed).
If one of the output shows any errors replce the disk , otherwise restore vg and activte it.
1.vgcfgrestore
2.vgchange
3.vgsync.

Re: LV's are not synced properly
pvdisplay, dd, diskinfo are giving I/O errors. On ioscan -fnC disk output, the disk /dev/dsk/c8t2d0 is not at all detected, we have got new disk.
i'm going to replace that. One more thing i don't have much idea about physical volume group. As my disks are in the physical volume group i have little confusion on the procedure. Can any body send me the procedure to replace the HDD on my setup.
