LVD SCSI devices on a K Class system
I have connected an LVD SCSI device to an HP-PB SE SCSI card. Part # 28655-60001. The system can see the tape drive and assignes device files to the drive but when we try to do a tar command using any of the device files it fails.
I have connected the tape drive to an N Class system with an A5150A LVD card and the drive works fine. I have also connected it to a B1000 workstation on the SE port and it works fine.
Does anyone know if the 28655-60001 has any known problems with LVD devices or are there any patches that may help.
The device is an Adic FastStor 2 Super DLT. I have also tried a Quantum DLT8000 with the same results.

Re: LVD SCSI devices on a K Class system
What does it show in
# ioscan -fnC tape
It should sapcify the S/w State as CLAIMED. Also check whether it is loading the relevant driver (stape) in the Driver field.
Regards,

Re: LVD SCSI devices on a K Class system
It is quite possible that this Adic FastStor 2 Super DLT falls into the same category.

Re: LVD SCSI devices on a K Class system
Fast tape drives were never supported on the 28655 and even if you could get it to work the unit would be severely starved for data.

Re: LVD SCSI devices on a K Class system
Looks like this card just won't work with LVD devices.
I believe that I will go with a Fibre / LVD SCSI Bridge and use them that way.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and ideas.
