LVM 2.x vgimport retry limit

when I am doing a vgimport for the first time, it fails with the error "Verification of unique LVM disk id on each disk in the volume group /dev/vgname failed.". when I am retrying it [ as told in link http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-6576/ch04s09.html], it succeeds.is there any threshold on the number of retries,so that the retry wont end up with any infinite loop?

vgimport succeeded after one retry. what to do if it doesn't succeed with single attempt? any other ways?

if it fails, you can always export the vg and reimport provided you have a good map file.
