LVM on 11i

Is it true that the native logical volumes (created using SAM) on HP-UX 11i are Veritas Volume Manger Volumes?

Thanks

Re: LVM on 11i

As of just recently, yes, they can be. Originally, /stand could not be - now they all *can* be, but don't have to be.

Re: LVM on 11i

If so how do I know the type of logical volume I created. Is there a version of HP-UX 11i after which they just integrated the vxvm into 11i.

Re: LVM on 11i

You can't boot an HP-9000 server off a vxVm volume.

You can do almost any other kind of filesystem other than /stand on it. /stand as you know requires HFS

I don't know if HP is going to continue down the vxVm road, due to the purchase of Compaq True64 which has a pretty decent filesystem.

As far as the death of LVM, not happening. It's been ported to Linux and is gaining popularity.
