LVM:POWERFAILED message
Hi All,
Issue is one of the disks in VG is showing unavailable whereas no NO_HW error in ioscan output.lvol is corrupted after reboot and now I can't mount the lvol as well.Strangely vgdisplay -v output gives lvol is synced and pvdisplay of the unavailable disks shows all PE's are current.Attachd is the file with all details.syslog says
Jul 23 17:30:45 daimler vmunix: LVM: vg[1]: pvnum=1 (dev_t=0x1f06d000) is POWERFAILED
Jul 23 17:30:45 daimler vmunix: LVM: Recovered Path (device 0x1f06d000) to PV 1 in VG 1.
Jul 23 17:30:45 daimler vmunix: LVM: Restored PV 1 to VG 1.
1.I checked with dd on the bad disk and it hangs also sar gives 100% busy and very large "avque" value
dd if=/dev/dsk/c6t13d0 of=/dev/null bs=1024k count=1000
Pls suggest if its the disk issue.
Thanks

Re: LVM:POWERFAILED message
Shalom,
Its a disk.
POWERFAIL happens when the disk loses power.
timeouts and other such issues occur when the disk is overloaded.
You have a very dangerous situation as far as data is concerned. A hardware problem on a very busy disk

Re: LVM:POWERFAILED message
Thanks SEP for that quick response. Its FC10, too old to get a disk replaced.
What confused me is that the lvol is showing available, so may be some chance.but now fsck is also failing with I/O error.Do u say no way to recover the lvol1.
Can u help me how to identify the disk in the array.there are total 10 disks.
Cheers
