LVM question

Can anybody tell whether Logical volumes can span across volume groups.

If yes how do we configure the same.

No, they can not. This is one minor problem with having many volume groups when you don't need them.
Never preceed any demonstration with anything more predictive than "watch this"

Simple answer no they can NOT span over volume groups.

hi,

what i understand about logical volume:

. One volume group may have multiple disks (physical volume)
. One logical volume may be contain within one volume group.

Physical volumes (disks / LUNs) make a volume group (A chunk of space) . You can address volume group as a whole and slice them intological volumes.

It's one of the 8 basic rules of LVM that Logical Volumes cannot span across volume groups.
