LVM striping on VA71xx

LVM striping on VA71xx

Hi Guys,

Does VA7100 do the H/W striping? And if it does H/W striping, then on top of H/W striping if I do LVM striping would that will help me in performance or hurt me.

My guess was mixing of H/W and software striping is not a good idea, BUT I wanted to get an opinion from all of you gurus

You guessed it right. I believe VA7100 is capable of RAID 0 and Striping at both HW and SW levels doesnt sound like a good idea to me either.

I would suggest striping using LVM and have the disks hardware mirrored using RAID 1 in the array.
