Mac Address for HP UX server

Just to check any ways that we can check the Mac address for the HP UX server? example can use SAM to see? How about IP address? thanks

You can use the arp command.

Do a man on arp.

Also lanscan will give you mac addresses for all you lan cards.

The command you are looking for is:

# lanscan

To get mac address do the following:

1) lanscan - look at 2nd collumm (station Address).

2) ifconfig lan# - Verify which NIC card and IP your looking for.

Andy,
please note that lanscan can display wrong MAC address. To be sure you see LAN card's built-in MAC address you should use PDC.
There're 2 files in hpux at /etc/rc.config.d: hpetherconf and hpbase100conf where MAC address can be assigned to LAN card (HP_ETHER_STATION_ADDRESS) and this MAC address will override native card's MAC address. That's why people who simply dd'ing systems usually get MAC address conflicts

Just splitting a hair here.

Servers don't have MAC addresses, NIC cards do.

If you have two NIC cards, you have two MAC addresses, which are unique to each card, even if they are the exact same model.

I have nothing to add to the commands provided earlier by others, they were really good.
