mac address on servers

lanscan shows the mac address of the net interface if you want to see the serial number of the server try
uname -i

Lan scan will work, providing you don't override your mac addresses in your network startup scripts.

You can do ither lanscan or uname -i

One way to verify this is to telnet to the box in question. Exit your telnet session, then run arp -a and see what mac it tells you the server used.
