I want to document all our HP-UX servers (all in formation I can get via command line ... no stm...). All the information I'll put in a textfile for each server and build www sites with php. Where can I find a command reference for "all" information about the server (RAM, processors, disks, other drives, installed SW, network information ...). I need detailed information...
Best regards and thx
Michael

Re: Machine documentation
you may have all ther information you need in the output
of the famous "nickel" script - you can get one from:

Re: Machine documentation
How about something for free for doing nothing other than proactively protect your system?
Whenever you run the current Ignite 'make_tape_recovery' to create a recovery tape, you will automatically be given a nicely formatted system configuration summary: a summary of hardware, installed software, the file system layout, swap information, kernel configuration and essential network parameters. There is no need to run a 'print_manifest'. Rather, one is automatically created each time as:
/var/opt/ignite/recover/latest/manifest

Re: Machine documentation
I agree with James, the manifest file gives
you just about everything you need to know.
I used to run a series of scripts to get
this information with an update being sent
every week on what had been changed. I don't
have to do it anymore, as when I run my
weekly ignite tape it creates it for me.
