Magneto-Optical disk will not mount

I have been using removable Magneto-Optical disk for a number of years. Last year HP changed the disk from 1024 bytes/sector to 4096 bytes/sector. We had to install a patch so we could use the new 4096 bytes/sector disk. Now after user mounting the disk 6 or 8 times the disk will not mount. Because I cannot mount the disk I can't get to any of the data I have saved to the Magneto-Optical disk. Does anyone have any ideas why my Magneto-Optical disk stop mounting? If I use a new Magneto-Optical disk it will mount OK.

You'll need to provide more details like the error message when you try to mount the disc. Does it state that the disc needs fsck?

Re: Magneto-Optical disk will not mount

Hi,

run the dmesg - command and look in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log.
Perhaps there are HW-related issues with the medium, which can be identified there.
