mail aliases

1. What does this error message mean:
'cannot open hash database /etc/mail/aliases.db invalid argument' ?

2. How/where does it get fixed?

Thanks

Re: mail aliases

It is possible that the aliases.db file is corrupted or not present on the
system anymore. To rebuild it, use the newaliases command (or sendmail -bi).
This should force a rebuild of the aliases.db file and clear the error you're
seeing.

The file /etc/mail/aliases is the list of aliases. You may need to check this
file, too - if it isn't present or is damaged, the newaliases will most likely
fail.
