make_net_recover and Lan ID on multiple lanic systems
Hello,
simple question.
When i perform make_net_recovery from a client, on the server is create a directory named as the hostname of the client. This directory is a link the a directory named with the MAC of the lan of the client.
But that MAC is not the mac address of the lan used by the client, but is related to the first lan in the lanscan output (usually the lan0).
Is this a problem? When i restore from Ignite server, shuold i rename that directory with the mac address used for the restore process?
Thanks in advance

Re: make_net_recover and Lan ID on multiple lanic systems
Shalom,
The MAC conflict will produce some difficulties, but you can get around them.
Most HP-UX systems can only boot off a built in LAN card. You should try the recovery and test the issue concerning rename.
First try without a rename, and only if it fails make changes. The MAC address may be embedded into the archive so its best to try and use it without altering it.

Re: make_net_recover and Lan ID on multiple lanic systems
hi
As Steve says, u will sure face difficulties as the Ignite Server keeps the config for the client Image using that MAC address only.
So when u boot with the other LAN card apart from the one that the the Ignite Server has kept the Client config, u will not find the client config during installation. High Chances. that u need to reconfig the MAC address on the Ignite server for the Client new LAN Card MACaddress.
Regards
Sujit
