ERROR: The make_sys_image command failed. The system recovery archive will
not be created.
is this mostly probably caused by pax and I should find some pax patch?

Re: make_sys_image command failed after pax warning
Just a suggestion. Ignite supports tar and cpio also and so do the commands for the utilities. Hope that helps.

Re: make_sys_image command failed after pax warning
You may want to have an -x include statement in your backup.
Ignite is not very useful for backing up more than vg00 or rootdg (vxvm). Limit the scope of the backup.
Taking a look at your ignite version and providing your OS version would be helpful in further diagnosis.

Unfortunately I don't see any obvious pax errors above.
>Ismail: Ignite supports tar and cpio
Hopefully you don't have to go backwards by using these.

Re: make_sys_image command failed after pax warning
is this the ignite version from swlist:
XT100SD B.4.4.12 Ignite-UX Manufacturing Supplement (Reference Only)?because there is no "HP-UX Installation Utilities (Ignite-UX)"item at swlist.
and the os' version is B.11.11. attachment are recovery.logs of that of five years before and of yesterday, both failed.
There are threads at this forum saying I should install some pax patch, and I am not certain about that.
Furthermore, how to use tar and cpio to finish the backup?

Re: make_sys_image command failed after pax warning
The latest version of Ignite is C.7.11 Ignite-UX C.7.1 and later versions run on HP-UX 11i v1, v2, and v3 servers.
You could download the software from https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=IGNITEUXB
