make_tape_recovery: Error Reading IPL

I restored a K-class system from the make_tape_recovery tape and once it rebooted, it wouldn't come up, the error message was:

Error reading IPL

I tried "search" and booting off various devices from P0 to P3 and none of them worked, all giving this error message.

Did I not recover from tape correctly? Or is the tape bad?

The system cannot read the program loader from the disk. Either you are booting from a from disk or you restored a bad backup (bootarea is not safed on tape).

Do you remember some errors while backup and restore (there should be some).

are you running version B.3.5?
If so that might be your problem please upgrade to verion B.3.6

The problem coould be caused also by a corrupted LIF area on the disk. So you might want to consider the hard disk to be the point of failure.
The tape could be damaged also...
